Official Howie Day Trading Board

Welcome and General Information

First off let me welcome you to theHDTB and were glad you found us. I am writing this to let you know what theHDTB is all about and also to assist you in finding what you need to find while here.

First off let me tell you about theHDTB. TheHDTB was founded in December of 2000 by myself and a guy named Mark Clepper(clepdog8) . We decided to start a message board after downloading one of Howie's shows(2-9-00 to be exact). We both had been around the DMB trading/message board communities for awhile and liked them, so thus theHDTB was born.

TheHDTB is a fun place were Howie fans can not only come to talk about Howie but also trade his live shows with other Howie fans. Of course every once in awhile we, like all the other message boards out there, we get a few "bad apples". Bad apples are people who come here to cause trouble and disrupt the overall peace of the board...they are not welcome here and will be banned without warning. Now lets make something perfectly clear, being a "bad apple" and having your own opinions are two COMPLETELY different things.  Having your own opinion is fine and in no way will this cause you to be banned unless you decide to express it in a rude way. Simply put theHDTB is not a forum for rude people to come and disrupt the overall peace of the board.

Also keep in mind that theHDTB is not just a place to talk about Howie it is also a place to talk about other things. The members here are people, people with feelings and lives, and lot of them have developed friendships through the board. Feel free to discuss anything you like but keep in mind if it is not Howie Day related it belongs in the Non Howie Day Discussion forum.

Now if you came here for the shows, well then you came to the right place. We have tons of friendly people who would be more than happy to help you out with a B+P or a trade in the Trading/B+P Forum.

There are plenty of other great things here at theHDTB and I invite you to look around and make yourself comfortable cause as others will contest once you're here you'll never leave. If you have any questions feel free to get in touch with me. Thanks and again welcome to the board.

nHD Forum Guidelines

Time for a story:
When thehdtb.com (the board) was first created it had only one forum - General discussion. Any non-Howie content that a member felt was worthy of posting was labeled with a (nHDc). Once the board grew to a decent size the moderators and administrators decided it was time to create separate HDc and nHDc forums.

Because of the board’s unprecedented growth the moderators and administrators have decided that now is the time to make another change. That is why we ask that, as a general rule, if you don't think what you have to say in a particular post is worthy of being posted in a general forum with an (nHDc) at the end of the subject, it's probably not worthy of being posted as a thread in nHDc.

Always ask yourself, am I adding something worth while to this conversation?

Also please remember the board rules, because they of course apply to this forum too.

  1. Respect everyone, regardless of whether or not you like them - Do not say mean things to or about people on the board. Any issues you are having with people do not belong on a public message board. All private issues are expected to be handled privately. If the issue is board related, contact a moderator or administrator about issue. Moderators and administrators can be reached by IM and email addresses that are listed in the FAQ's section of the board.

  2. Never flaunt your "seniority" in an attempt to make other members feel as if they are not as much a member of the board as you are. This means you can't tell someone "I've been here longer therefore I'm better" or "I have more posts so I'm cooler." The great thing about this board is that every Howie fan is on equal footing, regardless of whether you discovered his music 3 years ago or 3 days ago.

  3. Keep random posts to a minimum - Randomness is fun, but that's why we created the Post-A-Thon. Do not post new threads for the sake of posting. Praise of another member should be for a specific purpose or specific event. The best "thank-you" is a star nomination.

  4. Try to keep private matters and relationships off the board - Many board members have formed friendships with other members. Some people have even found best friends. But remember that this board has over 5000 members, all who should feel equally as welcome on this board.

  5. Posts to promote yourself or to promote new bands BELONG IN THE OTHER ARTISTS FORUM. This is self explanatory, please try to abide by it.

  6. Refrain from using "~***" "~~~~~" "*****", TYPING IN ALL CAPS, or any other attention grabbing characters in thread topics unless you feel that they are important enough that the whole board needs to pay attention. If you use them when they are not really needed, they will be edited out.

  7. No threads may be deemed "Official" except by moderators or administrators. If you think you have a thread worthy of being called "Official," you need to ask permission from a moderator or administrator first.

  8. NO discussion of illegal activity - This goes without saying.

  9. No posts that are "adult" in nature - It is like the famous quote regarding pornography; you may not know how to define it but you know it when you see it. Please remember that there are younger members of the board too.

  10. No derogatory or racist terms or slurs - We are a message board meant for all to use and enjoy. It does not matter if you use a term everyday, or use it as a term of endearment - we use a more globally accepted standard.

  11. No contesting a moderator or administrator’s ruling on any situation. They are the final word. If you have an issue with something please contact the moderator or administrator directly, away from the board.

If you or a thread you start are found to be in non-compliance with the above rules, your post/thread may be edited/deleted or otherwise changed without notice. If you are found to be in excessive non-compliance (i.e. lots of posts or threads breaking the above rules), you will be personally spoken to by one of the moderators or administrators and possibly banned from the board.

***The moderators and administrators reserve the right to add or modify rules to this list at any time we deem necessary.

Failure to follow these rules/guidelines or breaking of a rule/guideline will result in a warning. If you break the rules/guidelines again you will be banned without warning.

HDTB Etiquette

Here are some things you should try and follow while at theHDTB

  1. Only post a message once - On the message boards, be careful to post your message only once. It is discouraging to sift through hundreds of messages, especially when every few messages, the message is the same one from the same person. Posting a message more than once does not emphasize the urgency of your message, and more than likely, it is annoying to those who are reading the boards.

  2. Read follow-ups - When you post a message, be sure to check back and read the remarks that people post in response to your message. They may be waiting for a response from you, too.

  3. Don't repeat what has already been said - In posting replies to messages, if someone has posted your thoughts exactly, either add something different, or leave well-enough alone. It is unnecessary to post the same general idea to a message more than once.

  4. Do not post anything that you would regret saying in a room full of people - Keep in mind, hundreds, possibly thousands of people could be looking at the message boards at any time. If you would be embarrassed to say it to a group of people, or even to one or two people, then don't post it.

  5. Treat others like you want to be treated - Remember there are real people behind the usernames.
